Chi-Chi is a fictional character from the Dragon Ball media franchise. And into the Fire! Typically portrayed as the shrewish wife of series protagonist Son Goku and the overprotective mother of Son Gohan and Son Goten , Chi-Chi is considered to be one of the most prominent female characters in the franchise, and is featured consistently in merchandise and in cosplay by Dragon Ball fandom. Chi-Chi is known by different names in other language localizations of the Dragon Ball anime adaptation. Besides being a colloquial pun for "milk", it also happens to be a slang term for female breasts in Latin America. Chi-Chi first appears as an unnamed child running away from a dinosaur, which she later decapitates with a blade attachment on her helmet.
She was first introduced as a shy and fearful girl, but later, as she gets older, develops a very tomboyish, tough and fierce personality, which sometimes causes her to have angry outbursts seen several times throughout the series. Despite this, she has shown her love for Goku and their sons many times throughout the series. Chi-Chi is a conventionally attractive light-skinned woman of slender build who possesses large black eyes and long, straight, black hair with square bangs. As a child, Chi-Chi's appearance consisted of a blue bikini, pink gloves and boots, a green cape and her pink helmet. Chi-Chi kept this appearance until the Piccolo Jr.
Chi Chi might not be strapping on her original fighting outfit from the first Dragon Ball series to help out her husband in the battle against interstellar threats any time soon, but she has definitely earned her place as one of the biggest female characters of the franchise, with one fan putting together some new art work honoring her original appearance! The wife of Goku originally was able to "trick" her husband into getting married as the Saiyan fight believed that a wedding was some sort of food, giving you a perfect view into the brawler's head when he isn't training or in the middle of a fight. In the original Dragon Ball series, Chi Chi was first introduced to Goku during one of the World Tournaments , battling against the young Saiyan who had yet to learn the mysterious origins of his alien ties. One of the last episodes of the original series saw Goku and Chi Chi getting married, with Dragon Ball Z kicking off with the introduction of their son Gohan who became one of the strongest fights in the Z Fighters' roster.
